Today is our Birthday

Happy Birthday, WCRMC!

On August 25, 1961, patients were transferred from Rawlings Sanitarium to the new facility in which Mr. George Heart was the Administrator then named Memorial Hospital of Washington County. Doctors on staff were Dr. M.W. Hurt, Dr. W.S. Helton, Dr. William Rawlings Sr., Dr. Farris McElreath, Dr. T.W. Gilmore, and Dr. Joe Lever. After the move, a portion of the old hospital on the north side of the city of Sandersville was given for the memory of Dr. William Rawlings (1850-1926), Dr. F.B. Rawlings, Mrs. Mary Hardwick Rawlings, and his sisters, Mrs. Winfred R. Gilmore and Mrs. Mabel R. Gunnels.

We are now a licensed general acute care 56-bed hospital with a 60-bed extended care facility. Thank you to all the generations of healthcare professionals that have invested and continue investing their time, hard work and their lives to what is now called Washington County Regional Medical Center.
