The Utilization Review Nurse monitors services and optimizes reimbursement. Also reviews patients' charts and records verifying appropriate care to condition per patient treatment. Prepares and submits appeals to third-party payors, coordinates the collection of all pertinent data. Communicates with payors, nurses, and doctors to complete job functions. Performs hindsight review of payor denials and recommends operational changes to prevent future denials. Prepares and reviews data and reports as necessary to carry out job functions.
3 yrs.of previous hospital experience in utilization review. Knowledge of electronic health records, hospital reimbursement including Medicare, Medicate and managed care.
