History of Hospital

Washington County Regional Medical Center is a 56-bed hospital completed in 1961. The first patients were admitted to the hospital August 25, 1961. The hospital was a modern replacement for the Rawlings Sanitarium, located in downtown Sandersville, one of the few hospitals in the area for many years. In 1970, an Extended Care Facility was added to the hospital and the first resident moved in 1971. In recent years, WCRMC has implemented an electronic medical records system and houses state of the art diagnostic equipment.
